一門為寨，二門為堡，三門為池，四門為城。

In ancient China, fortifications were categorized by the number of gates they possessed: a solitary gate of the "Zha"(stronghold), served as a sentinel of security; the twin gates of the "Bao"(castle), signified a fortress of firmness; the triple gates of the "Chi"(citadel), denoted a stronghold of resilience; and the quadruple gates of the "Cheng"(city),represented an epitome of invulnerable defense. 

永泰古城作為一座軍事要塞，有著豐富的門衛(wèi)體系。

As a pivotal military fortress, the Yongtai Ancient City possessed an elaborate and impregnable gate-guarding system.

古城南側(cè)有兩道門，外門取名為“永寧門”，內(nèi)門名為“永泰門”，是唯一的出入通道。

There were two gates on the south of the city. The outer gate was named "Yongning Gate," while the inner one was "Yongtai Gate." They were the only access to the city.

城內(nèi)巧妙設(shè)置用于突襲御敵的闇門，格局遵循“城門不相對，道路不直通”的原則。

Several hidden gates inside the city were strategically designed to resist the sudden attacks from the enemies. According to the layout principle in China, doorways shouldn’t be directly opposite to each other and roads not straight through in layout.

作為絲路重鎮(zhèn)，古城內(nèi)設(shè)施完備。巍峨壯觀的城門、小巧玲瓏的坊門，永泰古城的門既守護(hù)這里的安全，防御外敵，也承載著老百姓在這里安居樂業(yè)的生活。

As a hub along the Silk Road, the Yongtai Ancient city boasted well-equipped facilities.The majestic city gates and delicate archways not only safeguarded the city from external attacks but also ensured local residents’ life in peace and contentment.
